How to Replace a Hyundai Elantra Wiper Motor

Save

The wiper motor in your Hyundai Elantra should be checked once a year. The wiper motor should provide years of trouble-free service, but if it begins to strain, you will need to replace it before it fails. Replacement motors can be purchased from most auto parts stores.

Things You'll Need

  • Replacement wiper motor
  • Socket wrench
  • Socket set
  • Disconnect the negative cable from the battery. Loosen the retaining nut on the negative battery cable clamp and slide the negative cable clamp off the battery terminal.

  • Unplug the electrical leads running to the wiper motor assembly.

  • Unbolt the retaining bolts holding the wiper motor to the firewall on the passenger side of the Elantra.

  • Slide the wiper motor off the pivot arm and firewall.

  • Align the mounting holes on the Elantra's new wiper motor to the mounting holes on the firewall and secure the new motor with the retaining bolts.

  • Plug in the electrical power connector.

  • Reconnect the battery.
