How to Change Vehicles in a Garmin

Do you know you can customize the vehicle icon that tracks your progress on your Garmin GPS device? From dune buggies and dirt bikes to horses and even reindeer, you can personalize your Garmin GPS icon for free at the Garmin website.

Things You'll Need

• Garmin USB data cable
• Garmin GPS device
• Computer with Internet access

Instructions

1. Connect the small end of the Garmin USB data cable to the side or back of your Garmin GPS device. Plug the other end of the cable into a free USB port on your computer.

2. Go to the Garmin Garage at www.garmin.com/vehicles. Search the page for the vehicle icon you wish to install to your Garmin GPS device. Garmin allows you to install a single vehicle icon or a bundle of vehicle icons.

3. Click the name of the bundle you want to install. Click "Install the Bundle Directly To Unit." Alternatively, click on the specific vehicle icon of your choice and click "Install Vehicle." Follow the prompts to complete the installation.

4. Touch the "Settings" icon, which is represented by a wrench, on the right side of the Garmin's main-page screen. Touch the "Map" tab.

5. Select the "Vehicle" tab from the Map Settings main page and touch the vehicle icon you want displayed on your Garmin maps.
