How to Customize Your Own Photo Calendar

Make a calendar using your own photos, and each month's page will remind you of one of your favorite moments. Create customized photo calendars for your own home or to give to friends or family members. You can make photo calendars by hand or order them from an online store. If you enjoy scrapbooking, make a calendar by hand. If you want multiple copies of the calendar, however, creating and ordering online might be the more efficient way to work.

Instructions

  1. By Hand

    • 1

Make prints of the photographs you want to include in the calendar. Order prints online from a website such as shutterfly.com or snapfish.com, or take your memory card to a digital printing kiosk at your local pharmacy or copy center. Make smaller prints if you want to include more than one photograph per page, or make 8-by-10-inch enlargements to use one photograph per standard calendar page.

    • 2

Draw each calendar page with a pen and ruler on 8 1/2-by-11-inch or larger pieces of heavy cardstock. Refer to timeanddate.com for a current calendar. You can print the calendar pages at home if your printer allows heavy cardstock or have them printed at a copy center.

    • 3

Place the calendar pages in an ordered stack with January at the top. Add an extra page on top for the cover and the January image, and add an extra page at the bottom for the back of the calendar.

    • 4

Use acid-free, photo-safe rubber cement or paste to mount photographs onto the cardstock. Begin by mounting the January image on the back of the cover, and proceed with the February image on the back of the January calendar page, the March image on the back of the February calendar page and so on.

    • 5

Decorate your photo pages with pen, colored pencil or markers, and add any text or captions you want.

    • 6

Punch three holes at the top of each calendar page and the cover and back pages. Use ribbon to bind the calendar pages together.

    Online

    • 7

Choose a website to work with to create your customized photo calendar. Look at zazzle.com, shutterfly.com, vistaprint.com and snapfish.com. Compare prices and calendar style options before you choose a site. Set up a free account with the site you want to use.

    • 8

Choose a calendar style to customize. Options might include poster calendars, wall calendars, desktop calendars, wallet calendars and more. Also select the number of months you want to include in the calendar if the site provides options. Many sites allow you to create either 12-month or 18-month calendars.

    • 9

Select a theme or template style for your calendar from the available options. Options might include seasonal, sports or travel themes, abstract patterns or solid colors.

    • 10

Upload digital images to add to each calendar page. Most sites allow you to add more than one photo to each page if you wish. You can also add text or captions to each calendar page or indicate important personal dates in the calendar.

    • 11

Preview your calendar and make changes if necessary. Specify the quantity of calendars you want to order, and add them to your cart. Proceed to the cart and enter payment and shipping information to complete the purchase.
