How to Do the Quest Shield of Arrav on Runescape

The Shield of Arrav quest in "RuneScape" sends you on a search for a historic shield that had been stolen from the museum in Varrock. During this quest, you must join either the Black Arm Gang or the Phoenix Gang and team up with a player from the gang you didn't join. The gang you choose determines your course in the quest. It will cost 20 coins to join the Phoenix Gang, but the boss of this portion of the quest has a low level. It is free to join the Black Arm Gang, but the enemy you must defeat is more challenging.

Instructions

Starting the Quest

1. Enter Varrock Castle and go to the library on the first floor.

2. Speak to Reldo and ask him about a quest. He will tell you of a book that has information for you.

3. Search the shelves in the library for the "Shield of Arrav" book, which has a blue cover. Read the book, then choose a gang.

Phoenix Gang

1. Ask Reldo about the location of the Phoenix Gang hideout. He will tell you to speak to Baraek.

2. Find Baraek, the fur trader, in the marketplace. Pay Baraek 20 coins for information.

3. Go to the Phoenix gang hideout in southeast Varrock. Descend the ladder.

4. Speak to Straven about joining the Phoenix gang. He will ask you to murder Johnny the Beard.

5. Travel to the Blue Moon Inn and fight Johnny the Beard. Pick up the scroll that he drops.

6. Give the scroll to Straven. He will allow you into the gang and give you the weapon storeroom key.

7. Enter the hideout and look for the chest that contains half of the Shield of Arrav.

Black Arm Gang

1. Speak to Charlie the Tramp near Varrock's southern entrance. Ask him about the nearby alley, and he will tell you the whereabouts of the Black Arm Gang.

2. Walk down the alley and enter the building. Ask Katrine if you can join the Black Arm Gang. She will tell you to steal two crossbows from the Phoenix Gang.

3. Find your partner from the Phoenix Gang and ask him for the key to the weapon storeroom.

4. Walk to the Phoenix Gang hideout and look for a locked door. Use the storeroom key to unlock it, then enter the building and go upstairs. Kill the weapon master and take two crossbows.

5. Return to the Black Arm hideout and give Katrine the crossbows.

6. Ascend the stairs in the hideout. Look in the cupboard to find half of the Shield of Arrav.

Completing the Quest

1. Find your partner and ask her to give you her half of the Shield of Arrav.

2. Go to the Varrock Museum and give the curator the Shield of Arrav. The curator will give each player two halves of a certificate; each player's two certificates will be identical.

3. Give one of your certificate halves to your teammate and ask her to give you one of her certificates. Select "Use" on your two certificate pieces to form a complete certificate.

4. Enter Varrock Castle and present your certificate to King Roald to finish the quest.

Tips & Warnings

• Johnny the Beard is level 2, and the weapon master is level 23.
