How to Open Text to Speech on Vista

Windows Vista is an operating system developed by the Microsoft Corporation. One of the features of Vista is that it has several accessibility options. If you have a visual disability, you can change the settings to make everything larger or use a magnifier. You can also convert text to speech by opening Narrator. This is easy to use and is helpful if you don't want to tire your eyes by doing a lot of reading or if something is too small to read.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the "Start" button and select "Control Panel" from the menu that opens. In the Control Panel, you can add or remove programs, create new user accounts and make the computer more accessible to people with disabilities.

    • 2

Select "Ease of Access." In the Ease of Access Center that opens, you can optimize the visual display or enable Narrator.

    • 3

Click "Start Narrator" to open the text-to-speech converter. Use your mouse to hover over a text selection that you want read aloud.

    • 4

Hold down the Windows key and the "U" key to quickly open the Ease of Access Center.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can control how quickly or slowly the text is spoken by making changes under "Voice Settings."
