The corsage is traditionally worn on the left.

A corsage is a flower adornment that is generally worn on the clothing of women at formal occasions, such as a wedding or prom. Pinning on a corsage can be tricky, especially if you have never done it before. Acquaint yourself with the steps and proper placement, then enjoy the evening. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Hold the corsage so that the flowers are on top and the stem is pointing down.

    • 2

Place the corsage near the left shoulder or a few inches below the shoulder. Position is so that it complements the style of clothing being worn.

    • 3

Using the corsage pin, catch a bit of fabric beside the stem near the bottom of the bloom. Pass the pin over -- not through -- the stem at a slight downward angle. Catch a bit of fabric on the other side of the stem to secure. The point of the pin should be on top of the fabric. If the corsage is large, use a second corsage pin from the other side of the stem.

Tips & Warnings

  • Pin a corsage to a purse, hat or waistband, or avoid the pinning issue altogether by ordering a wrist corsage.
