How to Donate to Haiti

Sending donations to charity organizations use to be time consuming and frustrating to everyone. Did we send it to the right person, will they get it in time, and how do we know this is real? Well now there is mGive a foundation to allow you to easily send a donation to a charity like the Red Cross through a text message. There are a few different organizations you can send donations to one being Haiti. If you follow the steps below you can easily send a $10 donation to help with the relief efforts in Haiti that are being provided by the Red Cross which is a very well known organization. mGive will keep $0.35 cents of the donation and the remaining balance is sent directly to the red cross to assist in Haiti.

   The first thing you need to do to make a $10 donation to Haiti on behalf of the American Red Cross is grabbing out your cell phone. Most Americans have cell phones and this is the easiest way to forward a little help to the small nation of Haiti.

   With your cell phone you will need to send a text message to 90999. This is a program ran through mGive. MGive is a non profit organization; it is set up to allow cell phone users to send donations to many different charities.

3. To donate directly to the relief efforts in Haiti just make sure the text message says Haiti. Check your spelling it is important that you spell it correctly or they will not get the donation.

   Now hit send. The $10 donation will show up on your cell phone bill as a tax free charge. The rest of the process is handled by your cell phone company and the mGive foundation to ensure the charity receives the donation.
   
   If you are using a prepaid phone you will see the $10 donation taken from your available balance on the prepaid phone you send the text from.
