How to Remove Green Loctite

Loctite products are designed to make construction workers', electricians' and other technical workers' jobs much easier. Loctite is a threadlocker, a powerful adhesive designed to prevent nuts, bolts, screws and other fasteners from loosening under stress from vibrations or general wear and tear. Loctite comes in a variety of levels designated by color; each color is designed to fit a certain size fastener. Green Loctite is made for medium-sized nuts and bolts that measure around 1/2 inch.   • Wrench or other fastener
  • Heat gun

Instructions

    • 1

      Loosen the nut or bolt as much as possible with your usual method for removing fasteners, such as twisting with a wrench or pliers.

      Heat the Loctite bond with a heat gun. Set the heat gun on a high setting; Loctite adhesive should be heated to about 400 degrees to loosen completely.

      Work with your wrench or other tool while the Loctite is still hot to remove the nut or bolt. If necessary, scrape excess Loctite out of the way and away from the fastener with a metal scraper.
