How to Create Slideshows on a Web Page

Whether you have a business or personal website, you may want to showcase a photo slideshow. You can display family vacation photos, a professional portfolio or even create presentations. Create a slideshow with professional programs like Flash or Lightroom. Or, you can create slideshows easily with free online builders.

Instructions

1. Choose a Web slideshow builder. There are hundreds of software applications that will build your slideshow; some are free. The DMOZ Open Directory Project lists over 500 (see Resources). A Web search will yield even more. Find one that has the features you want.

2. Upload photos. Follow the builder's instructions on how to add photos, images or pages to your slideshow. Some software will accept website urls, while others are restrictive about file types. Most have easy-to-follow menus and prompts.

3. Chose a template. Most slideshow builders have several layout options. You can also choose background designs and text placement. Some software will allow you to place watermarks or copyright notices on your images.

4. Publish or embed your slideshow. Depending on the builder, this may be as simple as pushing a button, creating a widget or copy and pasting code into your website HTML. You can also save it to your computer or email it to others.

• If you use photo sharing website Flickr, you can easily create slideshows with its built-in slideshow builder. Another popular free builder is Slide (see Resources).

• Try out a free program or a free trial before spending money on slideshow software. You may not need all the features of an expensive program.
