How to Adjust a Mini Laptop for Better Viewing
Mini laptops and netbooks are convenient for their compact size, light weight and low cost. One trade-off over a regular laptop is the small screen size. Most mini laptops use power save modes that may affect the dimness of the screen. These factors can impact the display viewing. Adjust the screen viewing angle by tilting the screen to minimize glare. Experiment with different angles and look for crisp colors and no display-fading towards the edges.

Purchase a laptop riser or notebook stand. These are adjustable devices that sit on a desk or flat surface and hold the laptop up in a more ergonomic viewing position. This can help compensate for the small size of a mini laptop and keep you from hunching over to view the screen.

Use a laptop lap desk. If you are away from your desk and tend to use your mini laptop perched on your knees, a laptop lap desk can raise the computer up into a more comfortable viewing position, and keep it stabilized on your knees. A laptop lap pillow is another, cushier alternative.

Adjust the screen brightness. Your mini laptop may default to a power save mode that dims the screen. When you are plugged into a power outlet and don't need to conserve the battery, turn up the screen brightness. Look for two function keys at the top of the keyboard that are next to each other and have a symbol that looks like a light or a sun. The symbol on the left should be smaller than the one on the right. Hold down the "Fn" at the bottom of your keyboard and press the function key with the larger sun symbol until the screen is at the desired brightness level.
