How to Convert Word Text to HTML for a Mac

No matter the need, the Word application for the Mac gives you the tools needed to quickly convert your own text file to HTML.

Launch your Microsoft Word application and create a new file or open an existing one. On the Macintosh version of Word, select "New Blank Document" or "Open" from the "File" drop-down menu.

Enter your data and click the "Save As" option under the "File" menu or click the "Save" icon on the "Standard" toolbar in Word 2008 for Mac. Alternately, some versions of Word for Mac, such as Microsoft Word 2004, also have a "Save as Web Page" option under the "File" menu.

Be sure the "Web Page (HTML)" option is selected in the "Format" menu and click the "Web Options" button to continue.

Enter the information that you want associated with the HTML page, such as the "Web page title," by clicking the tabs and selecting your choices from the menus. Click the "OK" button when done.

Name your document by typing the title in the "Save As" text field and choose a location on your computer where you want the "htm" file(s) saved. Click the "Save" button when finished. The Macintosh Word application automatically opens the HTML page so you can see the results of your converted text file as a Web page.

Tips & Warnings
Save your text in Word format, which is "doc" for Word 98 to Word 2004 for Mac and "docx" for Word 2008 for Mac. Do this in addition to the HTML file in case you need to make changes to the word processing file later.
