How to Crochet a Wire Square
If you can crochet with yarn, you can crochet with wire. Using wire in your crochet projects means you can make jewelry, accessories, and home decor items with your craft. Use jewelry wire to crochet a small square and then hang it around your neck as a pendant or use a larger square as a coaster or wall hanging for your home.

1
Choose the wire and hook you will use for this project. If you use jewelry wire, choose a thin diameter or it will be hard to manipulate. Choose a small crochet hook, size G or H at the largest. Use a sturdy hook, preferably aluminum, and make sure it isn't your favorite hook, because the wire will likely scratch it as you crochet.

Crochet the center of the square. Begin with a starting chain of five chain stitches, and join with a slip stitch in the first chain to make a circle. You will work the remainder of your stitches into this circle.

Crochet your first real round. Chain two, then make two double crochets into the center of your circle. Chain three, then make three more double crochet stitches. Repeat this twice (chain three, three double crochets). Chain three and join to the top of your initial chain two. Now you have completed one round, and your square should begin taking shape.

Finish the square with one more round. Slip stitch into the next two double crochet stitches and the chain-three space. Then chain two and make two more double crochet stitches into that chain-three space. Chain three, and make three double crochet stitches into the same chain-three space. Chain one between the corners and work (three double crochets, chain three, three more double crochets) into every corner. Chain one and join with a slip stitch to the top of your initial chain two.

Cut the wire and wrap the ends around a free section in your square, or use the ends to make a loop to hang your finished crocheted-wire square.

Tips & Warnings
To add beads to your wire square, string them onto the wire before working with it. As you crochet, pull up one bead between double crochet stitches to hold it in place.
