-
2
Pour 1 cup of bleach into the jug with the boiling water.
-
-
3
Pour in 2 cups of hydrogen peroxide into the jug with the boiling water and bleach. Pour this mixture over the maggots in your garbage can. The maggots will die instantly.
-
4
Spray RAID designed for ants and roaches over the maggots as an effective alternative.
-
5
Heat up another pan of water and add a half bottle of dog shampoo to the pan as an unusual alternative formula in killing maggots. Pour over the maggots in the trash can. It kills maggots on impact.
Methods with No Chemicals
-
6
Use a dust broom and sweep the maggots from your trash can into a bucket. Boil a pan of water and pour into the bucket until the maggots are completely covered in the hot water to ensure death.
-
7
Fill a steam iron with water and hold it over your garbage can. Push the steam button on your iron and let the steam intersperse over the maggots. This is a good method if you don't want direct maggot intervention.
-
8
Open a plastic container and fill it halfway with beer. Set the container on its side in your garbage can. Remaining maggots will be attracted to the beer, crawl inside and drown.

Tips & Warnings
Make an effort to prevent maggots from showing up in your garbage can in the first place. Buy a self-sealing trash can and seal all your garbage in tied garbage bags, especially meat or other foods that attract flies.
