How to Find a Router Address for Windows Vista

When your computer is connected to a network, the data that goes into and out of your PC goes through a device called a router, which regulates the amount of traffic that goes through all the computers connected to the router, as well as the traffic going in and out of the Internet. Sometimes, you may need to access the router for technical issues. In order to do this, you will need the router's IP address.

Instructions

    • 1

Click on the Windows Logo at the bottom-left corner of the screen.

    • 2

Type "Command Prompt" into the search box that appears and press enter to open the Command-Line interface.

    • 3

Type "ipconfig" into the prompt and press enter.

    • 4

Look for the section titled "Ethernet Adapter." If you are on a wireless network, look for "Wireless adapter" instead.

    • 5

Find the line of text that reads "ipv4 address." The line next to it is your router's IP address.
