How to Convert 8Mm Tape to Vcd
Converting 8mm tape to VCD is a relatively simple and inexpensive process that will allow you to archive your old tapes in digital format, which won't degrade in quality over time. Using Roxio VHS to DVD software, you can quickly and easily capture your 8mm footage onto your computer, then burn a disc for later viewing.
Things You'll Need
- Computer with CD burner
- Roxio VHS to DVD software (with included video capture USB device)
- 8mm tape camcorder with composite video and audio cables

3
Connect the composite video cable to your camcorder and to the capture device. Each cable should be colored, and the colors (red, white, and yellow) should match up.

4
Click on the "Capture Wizard." Name your movie, and enter the approximate length of your video, as well as the quality in which you wish to record. Use medium or high quality for best results. Click "Continue."
-
5
Select your video input and click "Continue."
-
6
Check that your audio is working properly (as indicated by the undulating green audio bars), and click "Continue."
-
7
Press the large red "Start Recording" button, and wait for all your video to be captured.

Tips & Warnings
The Roxio software used in this article can be used with any device that has a composite output, not just VHS. The Roxio software also allows you to chose between burning DVDs and VCDs.
You may also use an s-video connector if your camcorder supports this format. The s-video connector on the capture card is the black one with multiple pin holes in it.
