How to Make My Web Cam Work on Yahoo Messenger

Yahoo! Messenger allows you to use your webcam to stream video directly from your webcam over the Yahoo! service. Pretty much all webcams are compatible with Yahoo! Messenger, however, more modern webcams perform better than older webcams. Your webcam needs to be connected and properly installed to your computer before you will be able to use it with Yahoo! Messenger.

Things You'll Need

• Installed webcam
• Internet Explorer

Instructions

1. Connect your webcam to your computer. Wait until it is detected and ready for use on your computer.

2. Open Internet Explorer. Click the address bar.

3. Copy and paste Yahoo's address bar (See Reources).

4. Press "Enter." Yahoo! will test your webcam to ensure its compatibility with Yahoo! Messenger. If you see an image appear in the center of the page, your webcam is compatible.

5. Close Internet Explorer. Open Yahoo! Messenger. Sign into your Yahoo! account.

6. Click the "Messenger" button. Select "My Webcam." The webcam window will open. The webcam window will display what your webcam sees and what the other person will see. You can now use your webcam in the other Yahoo! Messenger functions.
