How to Clean Polypropylene Carpet

Polypropylene carpet is a thin, flat carpet perfect for heavy-traffic areas, as well as homes with pets or small children. The carpet has very short fibers, allowing spills and accidents to be cleaned up with ease, as they do not penetrate deep into hard-to-reach areas of carpeting that would be a problem with longer carpet fibers. The thin texture prevents worn patches from developing on the carpet from heavy foot traffic, making this a popular option in many businesses and office spaces as well.

Things You'll Need

• Vacuum
• Water
• Dish soap
• Cloth

Instructions

1. Sweep the carpet with a vacuum cleaner at least once per week, or as needed depending on the amount of foot traffic that passes over the carpeting.

2. Pour a cup of warm water into a bowl, along with 1 Tsp. dish detergent. This mild soap will clean stains and cut through residue without damaging carpet fiber or fading carpet color.

3. Dip a cloth in the soapy water, then scrub gently over the stained area. Repeat until the stain has been removed entirely.

4. Allow the carpet to air dry.
