How to Use Rexton Hearing Aids

According to Rexton.com, if you are experiencing hearing loss, you are a likely candidate for hearing aids. There are many different types of Rexon hearing aids available depending upon your particular hearing needs. When questioning how to use Rexton hearing aids, it is important to realize that picking the hearing aids that are right for you will determine how to use them for the maximum beneficial experience.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert your Rexton hearing aid. Rexton hearing aids are created to fit your specific ear shape and are placed inside of your ear. For example, Rexton.com explains that the "Mini Canal" variety is a custom hearing aid that fits nearly all the way into the external hollow of the ear with only a small amount still showing. Look at your hearing aid; the smaller round part goes in first, the part with a dial (volume control) belongs on the outer surface. Gently slide the hearing aid into your ear until it is snugly in place.

Adjust the volume. Rexton hearing aids come with an adjustable volume dial. Rexton.com explains that it is important to change the volume level to best fit your surroundings. There is not one level that will always work best because the volume level may change depending on your environment. The volume dial is a notched disc; simply reach up with your fingertip while your Rexton hearing aid is in your ear, press the pad of your fingertip against the volume disc, and rotate it to reach your desired volume.

Give yourself time to adjust. According to Rexton.com, you may need time to get used to wearing hearing aids. When you become accustomed to dealing with hearing loss, regaining your hearing may cause you to feel concerned with the sound or volume of your voice, as sounds may seem extra sharp or loud, and the hearing aids themselves may be a little uncomfortable at first. Rexton.com explains that while learning how to use Rexton hearing aids, you will be given a "wearing schedule" that is important for you to follow; it is okay to wear your Rexton hearing aids for more time than suggested, but do not wear them for fewer hours than the time recommended in your schedule.

Replace the battery when needed. Rexton.com explains that hearing aids use zinc air batteries that use surrounding air as an energy source; zinc air batteries therefore have the potential for long staying power. Rexton and Energizer.com state that the life of your hearing aid battery depends on your hearing aid model, how many hours it is in use, and amplification; speak with your doctor for battery life expectancy information. Rexton hearing aids have a small tab on the outer surface; pull on the tab to open the battery door. The battery slides in and out sideways for insertion or removal. According to Energizer.com, it is best to keep the battery door open when you are not using your hearing aid because it "stops battery drain and may allow air in to remove any moisture buildup." Keep your batteries at room temperature (do not refrigerate) and away from metal (contact may cause batteries to short circuit). To dispose of old batteries, throw them away with your usual trash, but do not allow them to collect before disposal as this is a fire hazard.

Create programmed settings. Some varieties of Rexton hearing aids come with a memory button and software for creating memorized settings so that you do not have to adjust the volume manually. If your hearing aid has a memory button, use the provided software to program pre-set volume levels and toggle from one setting to the next throughout the day.
