How to Make Passion Fruit Body Soap

Passion fruit body soap is a rich, luxurious alternative to store-bought soaps. Making your own soaps can also save you money, while promoting better overall skin health than many commercial soaps which contain unnatural preservatives and chemicals. Passion fruit body soap has a sweet, tropical scent to it, making it ideal for both early morning and evening use, as it is neither too invigorating nor too calming. This recipe makes two pounds of soap, which can be cut into smaller, more manageable bars with a sharp knife or cheese wire. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 2 lb. clear glycerin soap base
  • Grate
  • Heatproof measuring cup
  • ½ tsp. sweet almond oil

Instructions

    • 1

Grate the glycerin soap bar into small chunks with a clean grater and put the pieces in a heatproof measuring cup. Add the sweet almond oil and stir with a glass stirrer or wooden spoon to combine.

    • 2

Place the measuring cup into the large saucepan and pour enough water into the saucepan to fill it three-quarters full. Heat over low heat until the soap has melted and turned to liquid. Melting should take between seven and 10 minutes for most soap bases, though some may take longer.

    • 3

Remove the saucepan from heat. Add the passion fruit essential oil and stir the mixture for 30 to 40 seconds with a glass stirrer or wooden spoon.

    • 4

Pour the mixed liquid soap into the soap bar mold. Let the soap rest for six to eight hours without moving the mold.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can use coconut oil in place of sweet almond oil for this recipe. However, it can be a bit drying, so it is best used by those with dry skin types. Substituting apricot kernel oil is ideal for particularly dry skin.

  • For a unique variation, replace half of the passion fruit essential oil with vanilla essential oil.
