How to Get Rid of XP Security Center Malware

XP Security Center is a rogue antispyware program despite its creators advertising it as a legitimate security tool. It secretly installs through Trojans such as Zlob, and displays a number of annoying pop-ups that claim your computer is infected with Trojans and viruses. XP Security Center tries to trick you into purchasing the fake full software. Remove this dangerous program from your computer.

Instructions

      Restart your computer and press "F8" repeatedly before Windows resumes to run it in "Safe Mode." You should see the "Windows Advanced Options Menu." Select "Safe Mode" and press "Enter."

      Backup your computer. Click the Windows "Start" menu and select "Programs." Select "Accessories" and select "System Tools." Click "System Restore" to launch the backup utility. Click "Create a New Restore Point" and click "Next." Type a name for the restore point and click "Create." System Restore creates a backup point you can revert your computer to if you make a mistake.

      Press "Ctrl," "Alt," and "Delete" together to launch the task manager. Click the "Processes" tab. Click "XPSecurityCenter.exe" and click "End Process."

      Click the "Start" menu and click "Run" (Windows XP) or "Start Search" (Windows Vista and 7). Type "cmd" (without quotes) and click "OK" to launch the command prompt.

      Type "regsvr32 /u + dll file name" and press "Enter." A message pop-ups stating that "The dll file has been unregistered." For example, to unregister hope.dll, you type "regsvr32 /u hope.dll" (without quotes) and press "Enter." Unregister the following file names:

      mp3avi.dll
      XunLeiBHO_Now.dll
      alisj.dll
      VideoMP3.dll
      PowerVideo.dll
      sysdivx.dll
      windivx.dll

      Close the command prompt.

      Click the "Start" menu on the desktop and click "Search." Click "All Files and Folders" to launch the search window. Click "More Advanced Options" and place a check on all the options to increase the chances of locating hidden XP Security Center files. Search for and delete the following files on your hard drive:

      XunLeiBHO_Now.dll
      alisj.dll
      VideoMP3.dll
      PowerVideo.dll
      XP Security Center.lnk
      sysdivx.dll
      windivx.dll

      Click the "Start" menu and click "Run" (Windows XP) or "Start Search" (Windows Vista and 7). Type "regedit" (without quotes) and click "OK" to open the registry.

      Press "F3" to launch the search tool. Search for and delete the following registry entries:

      Empty the recycle bin and restart your computer.
