Instructions

Choose a shell for the turtle's body. A great shell to use is a sar limpet seashell, which is a white shell that has brown markings on it and is about 1 inch in length. Depending on the size you want your finished product to be, you can use almost any style of shell.

Choose four shells for your turtle's legs. You can also use any shell of your choosing, but money cowrie shells are a nice shape to work with. They are cream-colored shells that are about 1/2 inch in size.

Choose a shell for the turtle's head. A good shell to use is the ring top cowrie shell. It is a cream-colored shell, similar to the money cowrie, but has a ring of yellow on its back and is about 1/2 inch in size.

Use a hot glue gun to attach the four leg shells to the sides of the body shell. They should be placed about where a turtle's legs would be. Use the glue gun to attach the turtle's head to the body shell where a turtle's head should be. Allow the glue to cool and dry before continuing. For both the body and leg shells, make sure the narrower end of the shell is against the body.

Use a small paintbrush and black acrylic paint to paint two small eyes on top of the turtle's head. Allow the paint to dry. If you prefer not to paint the eyes, you could use 8 mm black beads or small googly eyes that can be found at craft stores.

Glue a small round magnet to the underside of the turtle using the hot glue gun. Allow the glue to dry before hanging it on your refrigerator.
