Instructions

    • 1

Click the Apple icon in the top left corner on the menu bar and select "System Preferences".

    • 2

Select "Desktop & Screen Saver" under the "Personal" heading. Choose from an Apple standard background image, a photo from your iPhoto albums or images from folders of photos stored on your computer.

    • 3

Customize the background you select to fit the screen. From the drop-down menu above the thumbnail images, choose "Fit to Screen", "Fill Screen", "Stretch to Fill Screen", "Center" or "Tile". Try each setting to see how it looks with your image--the background will change as you select these settings within the "Desktop & Screen Saver" dialogue window in the foreground.

Check the box next to "Change picture" if you want some variety in your background. Your computer will rotate the background image among the pictures in the same folder as your current background image. From the adjacent drop-down menu, you can decide how often you would like the background image to change. Check the box next to "Random order" if you want the background images to rotate in a different order than they appear within the source folder.

    • 5

Close the "Desktop & Screen Saver" dialogue window.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can always press the "Control" key while clicking on an image on the Internet or a file stored on your computer and choose "Use Image as Desktop Picture" from the display of options to automatically set it as your background image. Go to "System Preference" to customize it's positioning.
