How to Repair Cat Scratches on Leatherette Furniture
There's no doubt that cat claws can be as sharp as knives, especially when they come into contact with your furniture. If you don't have a scratching post or other outlet for your cat to sharpen its nails, you may find the cat using your leatherette furniture to sharpen its claws. Leatherette furniture is a faux leather furniture generally made from vinyl. Many times, the manufacturer puts a scratch resistant coating on it, but even the coating isn't strong enough to withstand sharp claws. Does this Spark an idea?

Apply rubbing alcohol to a soft cloth and clean inside and all around the edges of the scratch.

Mix the resin and catalyst that are included in the vinyl repair kit per the manufacturer's instructions included with the kit. Mix them in a small bowl with the spatula applicator provided.

Apply the mixture from Step 2 to the scratch with the spatula applicator. Use the spatula to spread the mix the whole length of the scratch. Allow 12 hours for the vinyl repair mix to harden.

Use the edge of the spatula to trim away any extra repair material. Lift it off the furniture with your fingers. Be careful not to poke through the leatherette furniture with the spatula.

Use a fine 1500-grit sandpaper to give the leatherette furniture a smooth finish and to blend in the repair with the rest of the furniture.

Vinyl repair kits come in a wide variety of colors. Try to blend the color of your leatherette furniture to the kit as closely as you can.
Purchase furniture covers for your leatherette furniture, especially if you intend to allow your pets on the furniture.
