Palm Desktop acts as a link between Palm personal digital assistants (PDAs) and smartphones and the PC. The Palm Desktop is the software used to sync the Palm device's contents to the computer's contents. However, in the event that you have lost the data on the Palm Desktop, but have made a backup of the data in it, you can find and reuse the Palm Desktop's backed-up data.
Things You'll Need
- Palm desktop
- Palm device
- Palm USB cable
Open Palm Desktop on your computer.
Go to the "Tools" menu at the top of the list, then click "Options." Click on the "General" Tab and make note of the file directory under the "Data Directory" window. Close Palm Desktop.
Retrieve the backup files for your Palm device. If the backup is on another drive, connect the drive to your computer and open it.
Transfer the backup files to the Data Directory found in Step 2. Replace the files if prompted to do so.
Connect your Palm device to your computer via the USB cable, and perform a hotsync using the Hotsync icon on your Palm.
