How to Export Changes in Quickbooks

If you need to export data in QuickBooks, the built-in import-export feature provided in QuickBooks makes it simple. You can also use the feature to export selected information in QuickBooks, such as data entries and changes that you've made during a specific time period. If you have the Premier Accountant versions of QuickBooks, you can also export changes made to an individual client's account.

Instructions

  1. Export a Date Range

    • 1

Open QuickBooks from the "Start" menu of your computer. Go to the "File" menu in QuickBooks and select "Open" to open your company data file.

    • 2

Return to the "File" menu and select the "Import/Export" option. Click on "Export" and the export wizard will open.

    • 3

Follow the screens of the "Export" wizard and enter an appropriate date range in the "Export" utility when prompted to export only the data entered within that period. Click "Export" when you reach the last screen of the wizard. Only the data entered during that period will be exported to a file.

    Export Client Changes in Premier

Go to the "File" menu in QuickBooks Premier and select "Accountant's Copy." Choose "View/Export Changes for Client" and a list of the changes to the client's file will appear on the screen.

    • 5

Add any necessary notes for the client in the notes section of the "View/Export Changes for Client" screen.

    • 6

Click "Create Change File for Client" and the changes for the selected client will be exported to a file you can email or send to the client.
