How to Install ATV Seats

Removing the seats on your ATV (all-terrain vehicle) is necessary if you buy a new seat to replace a ripped or faded seat, are doing engine repair or changing the battery from under the seat. The process for installing the seats on your ATV is not difficult to do and will only take you about 10 minutes. All you will need is some basic tools and a well-lit area to work. You will be able to get everything that you will need for your specific ATV from your dealership or an ATV web site. Most people can complete this job in their driveway or in their garage.

Instructions

    • 1

Buy the correct seat to replace the old seat from your ATV dealership. Place the ATV seat onto the ATV so that the more narrow end is facing the handle bar. Handle bars are at the front of the ATV with the brake, clutch, light and winch components attached to it. Make sure that the wide end of the seat is at the rear of the ATV.

    • 2

Place the bottom of the seat on top of the connector attached to the frame of the ATV. The connector is a little plastic piece that is round on top with a rubber ring connected to the top of the plastic and connected to the frame at the bottom. The connector's function is to hold the seat to the frame of the ATV. The connector will slide into the slot on the bottom of the seat and connect the seat to the frame of the ATV. Once the connector on the frame is connected to the seat, the front of the ATV seat will be secured to the ATV.

Screw the securing screws into the corresponding holes with the screwdriver at the rear of the seat to secure the seat to the frame.

    • 4

Replace the rear fenders and rear side body kit to the corresponding places. The body kit consists of the plastic pieces that cover the frame of the ATV and keep you from seeing the metal frame. The fenders are the plastic pieces that stick out over the rear tires to stops the mud from coming up and getting on you while you are riding.

Tips & Warnings

  • Read your ATV's owners manual completely before you operate or work on your ATV.

  • If the ATV seat is not correctly installed in the ATV, you may be subject to serious injury. The seat may slide off of the seat frame and throw you off of the ATV while you are riding the ATV. The battery also may get wet while riding and short out, leaving your ATV with no lights to guide you on a dark trail.
