How to Connect an iTouch with Wireless Internet

The iTouch can be used to view video files, listen to songs and play games. The device also comes with a Web browser that allows you to surf the Web and check your email. In order to use the browser, access the iTunes store through the iTouch and use certain applications that need to access the Internet (such as news and sports applications), you will need to connect the device to an available wireless Internet connection.

Instructions

    • 1

      Turn the iTouch on.

    • 2

      Press the "Settings" icon.

    • 3

Select the option labeled "Wi-Fi." A list of available networks will appear on the screen.

    • 4

Press the wireless network you wish to connect to. If no password is required, the iTouch will automatically connect to the wireless network. Otherwise, you will need to move to the next step.

    • 5

Enter the password for the wireless network, then select "Join" and the iTouch will be connected to the network.

Tips & Warnings

  • As with computers, connecting your iTouch to a non-secure wireless Internet connection could leave your iTouch open to attacks from malware. Any personal information sent from or received onto the iTouch could also potentially be read by another person when using the iTouch on a non-secure network.

  • Many brand name restaurants, coffee shops and stores (like Barnes & Noble, Borders and McDonald's) offer free Wi-Fi "hotspots" that will allow you to connect the iTouch while within range of that particular free wireless connection.
