Instructions

    • 1

Employ someone to help unroll and attach the house wrap to make the task easier.

    • 2

Unroll a foot of the Tyvek wrap. Make sure that the Tyvek and DuPont logos are visible for installation onto outside walls. Hold up the roll on the lower right corner on one of the sides of the home and secure the excess house wrap over the corner to the other side of the home. The excess is used to wrap around the corners of the house for additional weather protection.

    • 3

Have your helper unroll the house wrap across the side of the house while you begin placing staples to secure the building material. Place staples every one to two feet apart.

    • 4

Unroll the Tyvek wrap right over door and window frames. Do not place staples into door or window areas. Feel around for window or door frames. You will feel raised areas underneath the wrap. Secure the material around windows and door frames by placing staples vertically a foot a part and within inches of the door and window frames. Place staples as closely as possible to the frames.

    • 5

Continue unrolling and attaching the Tyvek wrap until you reach the end of the side of the home. Secure the building material to the corner of the home and then roll out a foot of excess house wrap. Cut the roll and pull the house wrap over the corner to the other house side and attach with staples.

    • 6

Go back to the previous starting point on the side of the house. Attach the Tyvek as you did before, leaving an overlap of roughly 6 inches over the bottom-attached layer of house wrap for additional wind and moisture resistance.

    • 7

Continue for each side of the house.

    • 8

Using a utility knife, gently begin cutting the excess Tyvek house wrap from around the door and window frames.Cut as close as possible to door and window frames. Repeat for all windows and doors.

    • 9

For peak ends on a house, unroll and attach as you normally would, leaving an excess of several feet on both ends of the house. Pull the excess outwards from the house, use your fingers to feel where the peak is and use the utility knife to cut the remaining Tyvek to the proper size and shape.

Tips & Warnings
