How to Install Filemaker Server 5.5 on Windows XP

With the Filemaker Server 5.5 program, you can host dynamic databases from a single computer and share them with other users on your network. Filemaker Server 5.5 can be installed on your computer even if you are running the Windows XP operating system instead of Windows Server. Before trying to install Filemaker 5.5, make sure you are logged in to your computer with an administrative account.

Things You'll Need

• PC running WIndows XP
• Filemaker Server 5.5 installation CD

Instructions

1. Quit all programs on your computer.

2. Insert the Filemaker Server 5.5 installation CD into your computer's disc drive.

3. Double-click the "Setup.exe" icon to launch the installation program.

4. Accept the software license agreement and then click "Next."

5. Enter your name and organization in the appropriate fields and click "Next" again.

6. Choose the "Complete" installation type and click "Next."

7. Select the "Automatic" server start-up option and click "Next."

8. Type your 17-digit license key, which can be found on the software manual. Then click "Next" again.

9. Click "Install" to begin installing Filemaker Server 5.5 and then click "Finish" when the process is complete.
