How to Use Myrrh for Toothaches

Myrrh gum has many health benefits as it has antiseptic, anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties. Its antiseptic properties make it excellent for maintaining dental health including pain from toothaches. Both myrrh essential oil and myrrh powder can be used to treat toothaches, though using myrrh essential oil for tooth pain requires other essential oils.

  • Myrrh capsules
  • Myrrh essential oil
  • Small bowl
  • Toothbrush
  • Measuring spoon
  • Chamomile essential oil
  • Tea tree essential oil
  • Peppermint essential oil
  • Water

Instructions

  1. Using Myrrh Powder for Toothaches

    • 1

      Break open a capsule of myrrh powder and pour into a small bowl.

    • 2

      Apply powder directly to affected tooth with fingers or use a toothbrush.

      Leave myrrh on the tooth and do not rinse. Your tooth should feel better within minutes.

    Myrrh Essential Oil for Toothaches

      Measure two ounces of water, heat in a pot until lukewarm, then pour into a glass.

      Add one to two drops each of the following essential oils: myrrh, peppermint, chamomile and tea tree.

      Swish mixture around in your mouth for at least 10 seconds and then spit it out. Repeat several times a day if needed.

Tips & Warnings

  • Myrrh is also excellent for gum and overall tooth health. Brush with myrrh powder every day to keep teeth and gums healthy.

  • Myrrh can have toxic effects if used in excess and should be avoided by pregnant women.
