How to Delete the Cache on a Mac Computer

Cleaning out your computer's cache (or browser history) is something you should do on a regular basis to help your computer run faster and more efficiently. It's also ideal if you don't want others knowing what websites you've been browsing. Mac computers vary only slightly from Windows products when it comes to deleting the cache.

      Open the Safari web browser on your Mac computer.

      Select the "Safari" option at the top of your Mac screen. It's located right next to the Apple icon and is bolded.

      Choose "Empty Cache" from the drop down menu. A box will open that asks if you want to empty the cache. Select "Okay".

    Other Browsers

      Open the web browser on your computer. If you regularly use more than one browser, open all of the browsers that you use.

      Click the "Tools" menu at the top of the Mac screen.

      Locate the "Clear History" option on the drop down menu and select it.

      Confirm that you want to delete all of your Internet files. This gets rid of all files including the cache, cookies and browsing history.
