How to Sew a Sailor Costume
Sailor costumes are rather popular with men and women alike during Halloween. Because of this, it's not hard to find a sailor costume in a store or online; however, these store-bought costumes can be expensive. Plus, it can be hard to find the right size and style. By making your own sailor costume, you can be sure to have the right size and style. In addition to this, making your own costume is inexpensive. All you need is basic sewing skills and a few common sewing supplies.

2
Cut out a piece of navy blue grosgrain ribbon long enough to wrap around the edge of the collar. Sew this ribbon all around the edge of the collar.
-
-
3
Cut a circular hole in the middle of the collar, big enough for it to fit over your head and around your neck.
-
4
Hem the hole in the collar and wear it over a long sleeved white t-shirt.
-
5
Cut two pieces of ribbon that are each long enough to reach from your waist to your ankle. Sew one piece of ribbon down the outside of each pant leg.

6
To make the hat, cut out four triangles of white fabric that are each seven inches wide at the bottom and nine inches long in the middle.
-
7
Sew all of the triangles together, side by side until they form an almost cone shaped hat.
-
8
Hem the bottom of the hat and sew a piece of blue ribbon all along the hem.
