How to Remove the LCD Display From My Gateway Laptop PC

With computer technology advancing at an exponential rate, upgrading your computer is becoming an attractive option. A monitor upgrade can improve your computer's video display capabilities. You will need to remove your display if it is currently broken, or if you wish to upgrade to a better one. Anytime you remove your laptop's display unit you will need to replace it with another one. Changing components on a laptop computer is generally considered more difficult than on a PC. Follow these steps to remove your Gateway laptop's LCD display unit.

      Remove the face plate and keyboard from your laptop computer. Your face plate will be connected to your laptop's base by several latches located near the edges of your laptop. Remove these carefully with your hands.

      Remove the keyboard from your Gateway laptop.Your Keyboard will be connected to the base by several screws located near the corners of the keyboard. Remove these with care and set them aside so you will not lose them. You will need them later to re-attach the keyboard.

      Disconnect and remove your old display unit from your Gateway laptop computer. You will accomplish this by removing several small screws near the base of the display. There may be as many as six screws connecting the display unit to the laptop's base. Make sure you unplug the video and WI-FI cables before removing your display to ensure they are not damaged. If you meet resistance when removing your display, you likely forgot to disconnect a cable or did not remove a screw. Set the screws aside so you do not lose them as you will need them later.
