Instructions

    • 1

Use a black permanent marker to draw scary eyes, a nose and a mouth with jagged teeth on the pumpkins. Carve the features out with a sharp knife. Make a round top around the stem, and clean out the inside.

    • 2

Attach strips of packaging tape around the largest pumpkin in a mummy-wrapped style. Do not cover the eyes, nose and mouth. Use a marker to write Halloween-themed words and phrases on the tape, such as "Boo," "Happy Halloween" or "Trick or Treat." Apply bits of white correction tape in a random fashion around the tape edges to give the pumpkin an eerie effect.

Bend large and small metal paper clips in the shape of eyebrows and insert them into the middle-sized pumpkin above the eyes. Insert colored tacks on each side of the nose to add freckles. Use a hot glue gun to attach a bit of shredded paper on the top of the pumpkin to give it "hair." Add a shipping tag to the crown of the pumpkin and write "Happy Halloween" or "Welcome Fall" with markers.

Adjust the date on the date stamp to Oct. 31 (and current year). Stamp the date in a random fashion all around the smallest pumpkin. With a black marker, draw a few bats, spiders and other Halloween-themed images. Stretch rubber bands and wrap a number of them around the pumpkin.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use more than three pumpkins to create a pumpkin caterpillar centerpiece decorated with office supplies.

  • Ask office members to submit pumpkin-decorating ideas using office supplies. Take a vote; the winner keeps the pumpkin.

  • Keep pumpkin-carving tools out of reach in the event the office is located where there are children.
