Log on to your computer and click on the "Start" button. Choose "All Programs" from the menu, then click on "Accessories." Choose "System Tools" from the menu and then "System Restore." You will see a calendar with a list of restore points. To restore your computer to an earlier time, highlight a restore point from a date before your computer started acting up, click "Next" and start the restore process. Your computer will restart after the restore has been completed, and you will have the opportunity to accept or reject the restoration.

Push the power button on your computer and repeatedly press the "F8" key while it is booting if you are unable to log on to your computer normally. Choose "Safe Mode" from the boot menu, then log on to your computer. You will have the option to run the system restore process to restore your computer to its previous state.

Locate the restore CD that came with your computer if System Restore does not bring your PC back to life. Be sure to back up any user files you may have if you can, then insert the restore CD in the CD or DVD drive and restart your computer. Your PC will automatically boot from the CD, and the restore process will bring the PC back to the state it was in when it shipped from the manufacturer.
