How to Use a Black & Decker Simple Start

The Black & Decker Simple Start can be used to jump start your vehicle when the battery has been drained. You don't need another vehicle to start your car or jumper cables. The Simple Start can also be used as a backup power source for 12 volt DC cordless, rechargeable devices.

Instructions

  1. Vehicle Booster

    • 1

      Connect the accompanying AC adapter to the "12 Volt DC" charging port that is located on the back of the Simple Start. Plug the prongs of the AC adapter into a nearby electrical outlet.

      Press the "Recharge Unit" button that is located on the back of the Simple Start. Allow the unit to fully charge before using it for the first time.

      Look at the "LED Indicator" light that is above the "Recharge Unit" button. A flashing green light indicates that the unit has not fully charged. Unplug the unit when the green light is no longer flashing. The steady light means that your unit is fully charged.

      Ensure that all of your vehicle's power-consuming items are turned off. This includes the ignition, air conditioning, lights, radio and nd all other power-consuming devices.

      Turn on your Black & Decker Simple Start by pressing the "On/Off" power button that is located on the back of the unit.

      Open the side compartment of the Simple Start to remove the "12 Volt DC" cord. Plug the cord into your vehicle's "12 Volt DC" outlet.

      Press the "Vehicle Boost" button that is located on the back of your Black & Decker Simple Start. The unit will beep one time. The "LED Indicator" light that is above the "Vehicle Boost" button will also begin to flash green. The flashing green light indicates that the vehicle's battery is being charged.

      Wait until the vehicle boost indicator light stops flashing. The unit will also sound a continuous beep. This indicates that the vehicle's battery has been fully boosted.

      Attempt to crank your vehicle by turning the key in the ignition switch.

      Press the "On/Off" power button on the back of the Simple Start to turn the unit off.

      Unplug the 12 Volt DC cord from your vehicle's "12 Volt DC" outlet. Neatly insert the cord back into the side compartment of the Black & Decker Simple Start.

      Recharge the battery after using it to ensure it is ready the next time you need to use it.

    Power Source

      Turn on your Black & Decker Simple Start by pressing the "On/Off" power button that is located on the back of the unit.

      Remove the plug from the "12 Volt DC Outlet" that is located on the back of your Black & Decker Simple Start.

      Insert the 12 Volt DC Charging Cord for your electronic device into the "12 Volt DC Outlet" of your Simple Start. Remove the charging cord after your electronic device has finished charging or after you have finished using the device.

      Insert the plug back into the "12 Volt DC Outlet" that is located on the back of your Black & Decker Simple Start.

      Press the "On/Off" power button on the back of the Simple Start to turn the unit off.

Tips & Warnings

  • The Black & Decker Simple Start has an LED area light for proper lighting when connecting the unit. Turn on the light by pressing the "On/Off" button that is on the top of the devuce.

  • Do not use the Black & Decker Simple Start while the unit is being charged.
