How to Ease Ulcer Symptoms With Peppermint

Stomach ulcers are a serious problem, and you should not allow them to go unexamined by a professional physician. However, once your ulcer has been diagnosed and any necessary medications prescribed, you may still find that you have some pretty problematic pain. While painkillers may be an option, many people opt to try natural remedies instead. Peppermint can be taken in two different forms to ease ulcer symptoms.

Instructions

    • 1

Take an enteric-coated peppermint tablet two or three times daily. You can adjust the dosage depending on how long the relief lasts. Enteric coating is important because it is designed to be easy on stomach lining.

    • 2

Brew yourself a cup of peppermint tea. If the tablet alone is not doing the trick, then try some tea. Heat a cup of water in the microwave for two minutes, then steep the tea for at least five minutes.

    • 3

Let the tea cool for seven to 10 minutes. Hot liquid will not help your stomach, though warm liquid may sooth it. While you are waiting, you can stir in some honey if you need sweetener.

    • 4

Sip the tea slowly. Chugging it may just irritate your stomach lining. Take the time to sip the tea in small doses and swallow slowly and carefully. The peppermint should start soothing the pain almost immediately.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can drink peppermint tea throughout the day without concern about interfering with your peppermint tablets. However, always consult your physician before using any herbal remedy to make sure that it will not react badly with other medications.

  • Stomach ulcers should not be treated on your own, but with the advice of a physician.
