Measure two cups of brown rice and five cups of water into the bowl of your slow cooker. To make more, just keep the ratio the same (that is, 2 1/2 cups of water for each cup of rice).

    • 2

Add salt to taste. Try 1 tsp. per cup of rice the first time you make brown rice, and adjust the amount in the future, if necessary.

    • 3

Stir the ingredients together and put the cover on the slow cooker.

    • 4

Turn on the slow cooker and set the timer for three hours.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your rice turns out too soft for your preference, try using just two cups of water per cup of rice.

  • Do not open the lid while the rice is cooking. Moisture will escape and the rice will not cook properly.
