How to Open Up a COM Port on a Computer
COM (short for "communication") ports are small ports located on the back of your computer used for attaching various input devices, such as certain types of printers. Enabling a COM port is the process of turning it on so that it will recognize connections without any further tinkering on your part. Accomplishing this means downloading a simple free tool from Microsoft, allowing you to quickly manipulate the status of the COM ports on your machine.
