How to Convert QuickBooks Data to Peachtree
If you have switched your accounting program from QuickBooks to Peachtree, you don't have to re-enter all of your data. It is possible to convert that data during the installation process. Peachtree comes with its own conversion utility tool that imports the data from QuickBooks and converts it into Peachtree format. Each version of Peachtree can convert data from the last few business-level QuickBooks releases only. For instance, Peachtree 2010 pulls data only from QuickBooks 2007 through 2009's Pro, Premier and Enterprise editions.

Install Peachtree on the same computer that the original QuickBooks program was installed on and that holds the financial data. The Peachtree conversion utility must have access to this information in order to convert QuickBooks data to Peachtree.

Open the Peachtree installation disc if the computer doesn't automatically open it by going to the "Start" menu, "Computer" or "My Computer" and double-clicking the disc drive. When the drive opens, double-click the "autorun.exe" file to start the setup.

Click "Install Peachtree Accounting" in the window that comes up. The InstallShield Wizard will come up and the setup will open.

Use the "View Install Instructions" option if you want an overview of the process or just click "Next" to proceed to the next screen of the installation setup. Click the radio button next to "Agree" to agree to the License Agreement on the following screen and click "Next" again.

Choose "Yes" if the "Windows Firewall Detected" screen comes up. Peachtree will automatically set the firewall to settings that allow it to install and run correctly on your system.

Enter the serial number of the Peachtree installation CD on the "Serial Number" page and click "Next." The software serial number is found on the back of the CD case.

Answer the questions on the next screens regarding whether the computer is connected to a network and if company data will be stored on the system. Continue clicking "Next" until you reach the final installation screen, then click "Install." After all of the components of the program have been installed on the computer, the setup will continue.

Choose "Convert from QuickBooks" when prompted. The conversion utility will open, and on-screen instructions will walk you through the conversion process.

Tips & Warnings
If you do not convert your QuickBooks data to Peachtree during the initial installation, you can access the conversion utility at a later date from the File menu.
