How to Restore Blackberry Apps

Save

If you have had a problem with your Blackberry and restored it you may have noticed that your third party apps are not showing up on the Blackberry. This is because the system restore in the BlackBerry Desktop Manager does not restore the apps. Instead, you have to use the BlackBerry Desktop Manager software to manually restore any third party apps to the BlackBerry. Restoring Blackberry apps is a pretty simple process that you can do on your own.

Things You'll Need

  • BlackBerry Desktop Manager
  • BlackBerry USB computer cable
  • Download and install the BlackBerry Desktop Manager to your computer if you have not already done so. This is free software that is used to manage and sync your Blackberry with your computer. Launch the BlackBerry Desktop Manager once installed.

  • Connect your Blackberry phone to your computer using the Blackberry USB computer cable. The BlackBerry Desktop Manager will recognize the phone once it is connected.

  • Double-click on the “Application Loader” icon on the BlackBerry Desktop Manager screen. The Application Loader screen will appear, which allows you to add and remove programs and apps from the Blackberry.

  • Click on the “Add” button that is located in the upper right of the screen. Navigate to the location on your computer where a backup of your Blackberry apps are saved. Look for files with the ALX or ALI extensions. Select the files and click “Open” to add it to the list of files to be installed to the Blackberry.

  • Select “Next” at the bottom of the screen to be taken to the summary screen. Review the summary and click “Finish” to restore the apps to the Blackberry. Once the transfer of the files is complete your Blackberry will reinitialize and you can disconnect it from your computer.
