How to Send a Quicktime Movie Through Email
Quicktime movies can be tricky to send over email due to their large file sizes. Your first attempt at sending a file should always be to simply attach it to the email. However, if that does not work a variety of storage websites can help you get the file to the intended recipient. The tutorial below will run you through both methods.
Instructions
-
Sending as an Attachment
-
1
Open your email client, whether it is an external program, (Outlook, Eudora) or Web-based (Gmail, Hotmail).
-
2
Find and select the option to add an attachment. In external programs it will likely be under the "File" menu. For online email services, look for a button or link near the subject box.
-
-
3
Browse through your hard drive to find the Quicktime movie you wish to attach. Click "Open" or "Attach."
-
4
Send the email. If it seems to go through and you don't get a failure notice in your inbox within five minutes or so, it likely succeeded. If this method is unsuccessful, read on to learn how to send it externally.
Sending through Online File Hosting

Click on the link to "Sendspace" or "YouSendIt" from the Resources, below. Both sites are free and roughly equivalent, but Sendspace can accept bigger files (up to 300 MB) than YouSendIt (100 MB).
-
6
Click the "Browse" button then select your movie. Click "Open."
-
7
Type in all the requested information, including the recipient's email address.
-
8
Click "Upload" or "Send." When the file transfer is complete your recipient will receive an email with a link to download the movie.

Tips & Warnings
If you send the movie through one of the file hosting websites, it's a good idea to follow up with a personal email from your account so the recipient doesn't think the movie email is spam.
