How to Install Rain Gutter Nails

Working high up on a ladder to install gutters can be a scary task. Then factor in how hard it is to position a nail in place under the edge of the roof and inside the gutter before finally driving it in with a hammer. Try doing all this while balancing on top a ladder and you're lucky you don't come tumbling down along with the entire gutter system right behind you. Luckily, someone invented a gutter nail driver consisting of a hollow steel tube and plunger that makes the job of pounding in gutter nails easier and safer than ever. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Insert an 8D galvanized gutter nail head first into the front end of the steel tube of the nail driver.

    • 2

Insert the plunger into the back end of the steel tube. Locate the point of the nail in the hole of the gutter hanger positioned right under the edge of the roof. A gutter hanger is a medal strap that holds the gutter in place just below the edge of the roof line.

    • 3

Pound the hammer against the end of the plunger to drive the gutter nail securely into the fascia board of the house.

Tips & Warnings

  • Invest in a good carpenter's apron to hold the nails, hammer and gutter nail driver for convenience and hands free working.

  • Make sure you are working on a solidly constructed ladder when installing gutter nails, especially when working on a two-story building.

  • Never work on a ladder alone in case of a fall.
