Instructions

    • 1

Cut the 4 pieces of lanyard. Three of the 4 pieces should be roughly 14 inches long. The final piece should be 4 times as long as the others. Use different colored lanyard to help differentiate the pieces.

    • 2

Hold the 4 strands together and knot the end. The longest piece should be on the right side.

    • 3

Perform the staircase stitch. Holding the three shorter strands together with your left hand, wrap the longest strand over the left side and around with your right hand. Then pull the strand up and through the loop you just made. Pull tight to complete the stitch.

    • 4

Continue repeating the staircase stitch to the desired length.

    • 5

Tie off the lanyard. To complete the lanyard, tie a knot at the end to keep the loose pieces together. Use scissors to cut off the extra bits on either side of the lanyard.
