How to Find Screen Names on AOL

Screen names are used on AOL's instant messaging service, also known as AIM. These names are used when chatting with friends and provide an online nickname instead of using your real name. When signing up for an AIM account, you provide your own personal information, then choose a username, or screen name that will be displayed when instant messaging. This allows you to create your own online identity, and fun name that friends will know you by. To add friends, you first need to find their screen name, which can be done through the AIM service.

Instructions

    • 1

      Log-in to your AIM account.

    • 2

Click the "People" tab at the top of your AIM account.

    • 3

Click "Find a Buddy," located near the bottom of the drop-down menu.

    • 4

Enter as much information as you know about the person you are looking for (email address, full name, partial screen name, etc.).

    • 5

Search the results until you find the person you are looking for, then click their profile. From here you can view the profile, add them as a buddy, and send them an instant message.
