How to Fix the Xbox 360 Live Microphone Headset
Newer Xbox 360 video game systems come complete with an Xbox Live headset. This headset has its own microphone and plugs directly into your controller. One of the most common problems with the headset is a loose wire inside, which makes it impossible to hear people talk or talk over the headset yourself. It only takes a few minutes to fix the Xbox 360 Live microphone headset.

1
Remove the foam cushion that sits on the headset and protects the earpiece. Locate the small tabs surrounding the earpiece. Press a small flat-head screwdriver into the tabs, which force the tabs inside the headset.
-
2
Take off the speaker cover under the earpiece, which protects the internal pieces. The speaker cover is a small piece underneath the earpiece. Then remove the speaker from inside the earpiece. The Xbox 360 Live headset has limited space and all the components are inside your earpiece.

-
3
Identify the loose wires on the headset's speaker. Any loose wire disrupts the headset, making it difficult for others to hear you and for you to hear others. Also look for wires that may have fallen off because of a loose connection by the manufacturer.
-
4
Fix the Xbox 360 Live headset by reattaching the loose wires with a soldering iron. Determine where the wire fits on the headset, hold the soldering iron right above the piece and melt the wire enough so that it attaches back and connects to the speaker.
-
5
Put the speaker back in place and reattach the speaker cover. Place the speaker cover on top of the headset, rotate until the tabs line up and push down firmly. Put the foam cushion back on the earpiece and the microphone headset should now work properly.

My Xbox headset wire was chewed so I had to cut the end off, which is no good. The end that plugs into the controller. Can you wire a xbox headset end to a cellphone headset end and it work? They both need to hear and talk.
