How to Assign a Customer Number in QuickBooks

QuickBooks accounting software has had a major impact on many small businesses. In fact, it could be argued that the program has launched a revolution in the small-business world by allowing many businesses to move away from having to use an outside accounting service and instead perform many of the duties themselves. If you are a QuickBooks user, one of the tasks that you may need to learn is assigning a customer number to your customer.

      Open your QuickBooks software and navigate to the Customer Center by clicking on the icon for it.

      Scroll down the customer list and locate the customer to which you want to assign a customer number. Double-click on the customer, and a box will open that allows you to edit the customer information.

      Click on the tab that is labeled "Payment Info."

      Type the account number you wish to assign to the customer into the corresponding text box.

      Click the "OK" button to finish the job.
