How to Make Linen Spray With Rubbing Alcohol

Sheets and linens straight from the dryer have a fresh inviting smell. Regrettably, that fresh dryer smell is gone the next day. Before permanent press fabrics, scented linen water was sprinkled on bedding, clothing, and linens before pressing with a hot iron. The heat from the iron locked the fresh fragrance into the fabric. Today a gentle spritz of linen spray freshens and scents sheets and linens. Scented linen water is designed to add a delicate, pleasing, and relaxing fragrance to bed linens and can be made easily at home from a combination of a fragrance, rubbing alcohol and water. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Fill a clean spray bottle with 1 ½ cups of fresh water.

    • 2

Add 2 oz. of rubbing alcohol to the spray bottle. Stir the mixture thoroughly with a spoon or straw.

    • 3

Add the fragrance to the spray bottle. If you are using essential oil, add 30 to 50 drops of essential oil depending on how concentrated and strong the scent is of the oil you have chosen. The scent should be subtle not over powering. Fragrance can be made from fresh flowers or herbs. Soak them in the water 10 minutes. Use a strainer to separate the plant substance from the water. Adjust the amount of water in the recipe. For instance, if you used 1 cup of water for the plant substance soak, add just ½ cup of water to the spray bottle in Step 1. Stir the mixture thoroughly.

    • 4

Screw the spray head on the plastic bottle and shake the bottle gently.

    • 5

Pull back the covers and give a gentle misting to your pillow cases, bottom sheet, and top sheet. Spray your lingerie inside your lingerie draw instead of using sachet.
