How to Create a BlackBerry Device Password

BlackBerry is a line of smartphone devices capable of sending and receiving emails, accessing the Internet, installing applications and organizing contacts and events. Smartphones are largely used by business professionals to access private data related to work. These devices may also be used by individuals who want to stay connected to their personal life. To prevent unwanted eyes from viewing and accessing confidential information, create and set a password for your BlackBerry device. A password will protect all data stored on the device including anything saved to a memory card.

Instructions

1. Click the "End" button to navigate to the Home screen.

2. Select "Options" from the Main menu.

3. Click "Security Options."

4. Click "General Settings." Users with BlackBerry devices running OS 4.2 or earlier, click "Options" and then "Security."

5. Change the "Password" field to "Enabled" and click "Save."

6. Type your password and click "Enter."

7. Verify your password, enter it a second time and click "Enter."
