How to Make an Almond Mimosa

An almond mimosa is a fresh, new twist on the classic mimosa cocktail, usually prepared with just champagne and orange juice. This recipe adds amaretto, an almond liqueur which adds depth to the cocktail. This recipe makes two almond mimosas, but you can easily make more if you are serving them for brunch or a large party. Almond mimosas also make wonderful after dinner drinks, especially after a light meal when a heavy, rich dessert wouldn't be appropriate. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Fill a cocktail shaker half-full with ice cubes. Add the amaretto and freshly squeezed orange juice.

    • 2

Cover the cocktail shaker and shake vigorously for 20 to 30 seconds.

    • 3

Strain the contents of the shaker into two chilled champagne flutes. Fill each glass with champagne and garnish with a lemon wedge. Serve immediately before the almond mimosas get warm.

Tips & Warnings

  • For an interesting variation, add a dash of bitters. This will give the almond mimosas an herbal quality that some think increases the depth of the drink.

  • Replace half of the freshly squeezed orange juice with fresh mango juice for a sweet, tropical-tasting cocktail.
